Do’s & don’ts
Do plan ahead
Start planning your move well in advance. Create a timeline, set a budget, and make a checklist of tasks to accomplish before moving day. Before packing, go through your belongings and declutter. Donate, sell, or discard items you no longer need. This will lighten your load and reduce moving costs.
do pack properly
Clearly label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This makes the unpacking process much more organized. Take extra care of valuables and fragile items. Use bubble wrap, packing paper, and proper padding to ensure they arrive at your new home safely.
don’t procrastinate
Avoid leaving everything to the last minute. Procrastination can lead to stress and oversights. Measure doorways and hallways in your new home to ensure that larger furniture pieces will fit through. This prevents headaches on moving day. If you're bringing your refrigerator, defrost it at least 24 hours before the move to avoid leaks.
don’t forget to enjoy the process!
Moving can be stressful, but try to enjoy the process and see it as a new adventure. Take breaks, stay positive, and celebrate your accomplishments along the way.
